Why redirect?
1. You get to CHOOSE how some of your state income tax dollars are put to work!
2. It is an easy way to help grow women-led and under-resourced businesses right here in Alabama! There is no additional cost to you – it is simply choosing where your tax dollars go.
3. Tax credit dollars will directly fuel the growth of women-led businesses working to surpass $1M in revenue, while also supporting investor education to make investing more inclusive and accessible for all.
Data shows that women-led businesses are purposeful and community-driven. Helping them grow creates a greater impact for us all.
How does it work?
Through the Innovate Alabama Tax Credit Program, you can redirect up to 50% of your state income tax liability to Malone Unlimited’s Small Business Growth Program. Instead of sending it all to the state, choose to fund women-led and under-resourced businesses right here in our community.
1. Decide how much you will direct to Malone (you can direct up to 50% of your total state income taxes).
2. Sign a short letter of intent here.
3. When notified by Malone, log into My Alabama Taxes to claim your tax credits. Then send the tax dollars directly to Malone Unlimited.
4. Get a write-off or refund for the amount you already paid when filing your 2026 taxes in 2025.

Can I redirect my taxes to Malone Unlimited AND another economic development program?
Yes. Just make sure the total amount you direct to Malone Unlimited does not exceed 50% of your anticipated AL state income tax dollars
Will redirecting my taxes hurt any state-funded programs I care about?
No! The tax credit fund have already been set aside in the state’s budget. They do not come from budgets for other state programs. Since these tax credit funds have been set aside why not make sure it goes to a good cause like Malone Unlimited!
If I’m married and filing taxes with my spouse, can I redirect taxes on my own?
No. The tax redirection is based on your tax filing. So if you are filing jointly with your spouse you will be redirecting jointly with your spouse.
I signed the letter of intent. Now what happens?
You have 2 steps in July:
1. You will receive information from the Alabama Department of Revenue to reserve your tax credits. This will be the amount you signed in your donor letter. More information on how this works can be found here.
This is how the state knows to credit you for when you file your 2026 taxes.
2. Send a payment (check, ACH, credit card) to Malone Unlimited for the tax dollar amount you reserved. Malone Unlimited will send you information in August 2026!
Who all will see the information on my letter of intent?
Malone Unlimited (the program), Measured Capital (the EDO, Economic Development Organization), Innovate Alabama, the Review Committee at Innovate Alabama.
If I understand correctly to support this program and redirect my taxes I’m prepaying half of my 2026 taxes in August? Is there a way to manage my cashflow?
Yes! If you are an employee then fill out a Form A-4 to change how much state income tax your employer withholds since you will be prepaying some of your 2025 taxes in August. How much depends – talk to your tax advisor, accountant or call Talibah, Founder of Bankably who specializes in Tax Advisory and Accounting. Reach out to Bankably at customerservice@trusttmbtaxes.com
(An A-4 form is an Alabama Department of Revenue tax form that is filled out by employees to indicate their tax situation to their employer. You usually fill one out to let Payroll know how much state tax to withhold from your paycheck based on your marital status, number of exemptions and dependents, etc.)
Get the Form A-4 here.
